8th Asian Film Festival will kick off from 24th Jan. 2018

The 8th Asian Film Festival is being organised by Aashay Film Club is supported by Ministry of Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Maharashtra and in collaboration with NFAI, FTII & FFSI, in association with the Asian Film Foundation, Mumbai.
The Screening of the various films will take place at NFAI – Archive Theatre, Prabhat Road & FTII – Main Theatre, Law College Road, Pune.
Asian Cinema has now become the major attraction of 21st century.
In major international film festivals, Asian movies are making ground entries.
Even when we compare European and Hollywood movies with the Asian cinema, they are making their mark because of the realistic stories and effective screenplay.
India, China, Japan and Iran are pioneers of Asian cinema, closely followed by Korea, Israel, Kazakstan, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Taiwan.
These countries also setting a mark of their own stream in the European market. Cultures of these countries are being publicised through the screening of these movies in Delhi, Pune and Mumbai.
Asian Film Festival will be organised at Pune after a gap of six years.
Highlights of the festival :
More than 50 films will be screened during the 8th Asian Film Festival.
Films from 15 Asian countries will be shown.
There will be a special focus on cinema from Vietnam.
New Irani Cinema will be the major attraction of the festival.
Offbeat Bollywood : A section is devoted to some of the off-beat bollywood films of 2017.
‘My Marathi’ : In this section last year’s best Marathi films will be screened. Some of the films will be premiered in the festival in presence of their director and crew.
Indian Regional Cinema : Some of the best films from Indian regional languages, such as, Kannada, Bengali, Malayalam, Assamee, Oriya etc. will be screened in this section.
Best of Asia : Notable films from asian countries which are highly acclaimed and discussed in last five years will be showcased.
There will be a Retrospective of films made by veteran asian filmmaker.
Interaction and open forum with directors and artists is the highlight of the festival.
‘Zenith Asia Award’ will be presented to a veteran filmmaker.
